The CENTAURE network

Today, the three core centers of the CENTAURE network are currently carrying out a major part of transplantations performed in France. They have played a key role in the development of the sciences of transplantation. The core centers of CENTAURE are designated by a*, the other centers being associated with the core centers:

The laboratories are part of 4 IFR (the IFR26 in Nantes, the IFR 19 in Lyon and the IFR 94 in Paris) and three doctoral schools;
Various recognized teams: the mixed HCL-Biomérieux unit in Lyon (Directed by P. Miossec), the Laboratory of Immune Monitoring, Hospital Louis Pradel in Lyon, the Histocompatibility Laboratory EFS / University of Nantes (Dr Bignon), the Laboratory of Immunology (Dr JY Muller), Hôtel Dieu –Nantes University Hospital.

The core centers’ contribution
for the development of the sciences of transplantation

France has played a founder role in organ transplantation, sharing the pioneering period for kidney transplantation with the United States (American professors JP Merrill and J. Murray trained at Pasteur and J. Hamburger in Paris) and for pancreas transplantation, for the technical adjustment which allowed its development. The three cores CENTAURE centers (Nantes, Lyon and Necker/Paris) currently carry out a major part of the transplantations performed in France. In various ways these centers have also played a key role in this development.

Here are examples of major innovations from core centers which are catering to the CENTAURE's teams:

Integration of CENTAURE to the major international research networks

The CENTAURE teams are part of large European transplantation-related networks (Demonstration, Integrated research program, Indices of tolerance, RISET, Xenome) in the field of transplantation. The CENTAURE teams take part in the following common or differential research networks:
